ABOUT US

The Order of the Knights of Rizal is a civic and patriotic organization recognized by law as an instrumentality by which the teachings of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal may be propagated among the Filipino people, and others who may believe in his teachings to the end that they may emulate and follow his examples. Aside from its being a civic and patriotic organization it is also cultural, non-sectarian, non-partisan, and non-racial.

MISSION

 To promote the spirit of Rizalian virtues, patriotism and internationalism and engage in educational, civic, social and cultural endeavors.

 

HISTORY

The order was established in 1911 by Colonel Antonio C. Torres, who later served as the first Filipino chief of police of Manila. The order was granted a legislative charter by President Elpidio Quirino as a non-sectarian, non-partisan, non -racial civic, patriotic and cultural organization under Republic Act 646 on June 14, 1951. The order's insignia has since been approved to be worn by the Philippine diplomatic corps.

It ranks and insignia are recognized in the Honors Code of the Philippines as official awards of the Republic and is the Eighth Class Rank in the order of precedence of civilian decorations of the orders, decorations, and medals of the Philippines.

Since its founding, the Order has grown to more than 10,000 members belonging to more than fifteen chapters around the world.

OBJECTIVES
CODE OF ETHICS
General
  1. To study the teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal;

  2. To inculcate and propagate them in and among all classes of the Filipino people, and by words and deeds to exhort our citizenry to emulate and practice the example and teachings of our national hero.

  3. To promote among the associated knights the spirit of patriotism and Rizalian chivalry;

  4. To develop a perfect union among the Filipinos in rever-ing the memory of Dr. Jose Rizal; and

  5. To organize and hold programs commemorative of Rizal’s martyrdom.

Specific
  1. To study to spread the ideals, teachings and exemplary life of Dr. Rizal especially to the youth of the land;

  2. To organize chapters in all provinces and to undertake such programs of activities which will promote individual commitment to the ideals of Rizal and encourage personal involvement in the contemporary problems of the nation;

  3. To train and develop the Filipino youth in character building citizenship training, democratic leadership, enlightened nationalism and dedicated service to country and people.

  3. Venerates the memory of the national heroes by making their ideals his own;

  4. Values honor as he values his life;

  5. Strives to do justice to all his fellow men;

  6. Finds meaning and purpose in life;

  8. Maintains a tolerant & understanding attitude towards his fellow men;

  9. Believes in the value of education essential to the formation of the character of men;

  10. Promotes social justice and general welfare;

  11. Is industrious, self-reliant, persevering and conscious of the plight of the less fortunate
